Local Coalition Accelerator (LCA)

The Local Coalition Accelerator (LCA) is an initiative of The Share Trust and Warande Advisory Centre that catalyses and strengthens coalitions of local actors to formulate and execute collective community centred actions; and serve as an alternative solution to bridge the persisting gap between local and international assistance practice.

The Sundarban Coalition is a made up of 16 local and national organisations (LNO)/Self Help Groups (SHG) in coastal Bangladesh working to build disaster-resilient communities in the Sundarbans, a region particularly vulnerable to climate-related crises. The Sundarban Coalition operates across 4 coastal districts namely Satkhira, Khulna, Barguna and Patuakhali. After extensive community consultations, they are prioritising the development of climate-resilient infrastructure, long-term livelihoods, and improved access to WASH and SRHR services.

The operations and facilitation of the coalition is conducted in strategic partnership with The Share Trust and Start Fund Bangladesh

Transboundary Coalition

In September 2024, Warande Advisory Centre and The Share Trust convened a landmark three-day forum in Nairobi, bringing together representatives of the Local Coalition Accelerator (LCA) from Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, and Nigeria. This inaugural gathering aimed to deepen cross-border collaboration by creating a dynamic platform for peer learning, collective problem-solving, and strategic dialogue focused on strengthening the role of local actors in development.

Discussions centred on critical themes, including:

  • Localisation in the Aid Sector

  • Coalition Governance and Trust Building

  • Fundraising and Sustainability

  • Power Dynamics and Decolonisation

  • Case Studies on Localisation and Advocacy

  • Peer Learning and Capacity Sharing

The forum culminated in the formation of the Transboundary Coalition—a bold step toward reimagining development and advancing a shared vision for development rooted in cross-border collaboration, local leadership, and community-led action.
